   Re di Tebe, e padre di Edipo. Rapì un giovinetto, di cui si era innamorato, attirando su di sè la sua maledizione e la collera di Era che odiava chi disprezzava le donne. Forse per questo gli fu destinato di morire per mano del figlio Edipo.
